Home Euthanasia A family member passing is never easy, our goal in providing this service is to make the transition easier for both your pet and his or her family. By providing this service at home we can create a sense of comfort because pets, like us, are most comfortable at home. Being able to pass at home with all the love and support that a family can provide can make passing so much easier. As we have shared in good and bad times, we can also share in the easing of pain and suffering humanely in their final days. This procedure can be performed any where your pet is most comfortable whether it is inside or out. A favorite bed, a shady tree, a warm lap, or your arms can provide a comfortable setting to pass peacefully. The process involves giving your pet two injections, the first one being a sedative that alleviates any pain, discomfort, fear, or anxiety that they may have. During this time your pet will relax both mentally and physically, allowing them to rest as they have not been able to, due to pain or discomfort related to illness. The sedative usually takes effect in ten to fifteen minutes allowing you time alone to comfort your pet. The second injection administered is the euthanasia solution which is an overdose of an anesthetic. This solution causes your pet to fall into a deeper sleep just as it would if it was going in for surgery, to the point where all functions cease. Your pet will literally look as if it had fallen asleep. This second injection is very quick and usually takes effect in less than a minute. After the procedure we will verify that your pet has passed and allow you some time to say goodbye. After you are ready and have said goodbye, we provide several options for the aftercare of your pet.
